Avoid This Social Media Marketing Temptation

How desperate are you to make sales? Social media marketing is not the place for desperate sellers, but it is the place you can make the fastest sales. Does that seem to be a contradiction? I want to explain to you one of the worst habits I see in social media marketing today, and why you must avoid it.

I am a network marketer. I use social media marketing as my primary source to generate leads and to make sales. When I first started using social media for my marketing efforts, I followed what everyone else was doing and it was a disaster. Let me give you an example of what I mean. Go to Facebook and open any group related to making money. Start reading the content that you see appearing in the timeline. What do you see? You see updates with links, calls to action, and spam. You ignore all of it.

What does someone advise you to do in social media marketing
for your network business or to sell products? They advise you to start posting in groups on Facebook and on Twitter. They assure you it is a fast way to make money. They are wrong. If you start posting links, calls to action, and spam updates no one will read a word you say. You need to do something different.

The moment I decided to stop posting to get leads and generate sales, I started getting leads and generating sales. We are back to the contradiction, again. I switched to becoming the most engaging and interesting person I could be. I became the number one question asker online. What does that mean? Instead of trying to post updates no one wanted to read, I started reading what they had to say and asking questions. I engaged in their conversations and with them. Imagine how shocked an individual is when they have posted one hundred updates on Facebook and not received a single lead and now someone is talking to them. You have their attention.

I ask questions about their posts. I ask about their business. I try to find out about their levels of success. I want to know about their family, their job, and anything else they want to share. I am legitimately interested in them. One hundred percent of the time, the questions reverse. They start asking about my business, my success, my family. When they hear I am getting leads everyday and I am closing sales using social media marketing, they want to know more.

This is the time I share my other content with them. I lead them to the videos I produce for my business and share on Facebook and YouTube. I guide them to my blog. I have them connect with me on LinkedIn and add me as a friend on Facebook, because we are friends. They share my content and help me generate more leads. Instead of posting content to groups that ignore what I am saying, I post content to friends who want to work with me. Social media marketing is not about spamming groups. It is about getting social and making friends. Embrace the social side of life in your marketing and watch your results explode.

What Never Changes In Search Engine Optimization

Over the last few years, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has undergone some drastic changes with people scrambling in panic as they saw their rankings drop on Google. But it's really not that bad over all.

While there are people who had their websites lose their rankings on Google, some website owners didn't and the amazing thing is that their websites actually moved up the search engines. So, what gives? Well, the website owners that surfed on Google's changes rather than drowned in them understood something that other website owners didn't. They understood the basics. And what are these basics in SEO? Read below to know.

Google, Yahoo and Big are search engines and earn their money by providing relevant content to people who are searching for specific things online. Thus, no matter what you do (and no matter what black hat SEO marketers are saying), great content will always remain king. Thus, whatever you do, always build content that is relevant to your website. Publish great relevant content and publish it often, because one factor in the algorithm of search engines is how often a website updates its content and how relevant the content is.

Ideally, you should be publishing three posts per day. If that seems a lot, it is, especially if you're maintaining hundreds of websites.

But really, you don't have to write your own content. You can curate content or get content from other websites (text, pictures and videos) and then add a few paragraphs here and there while linking to the source of your content. Curating content has proven to be an effective method of getting the search engines to spider your content.

Because of some changes in Google's algorithm, some people have dismissed back links as useless in getting ranked. But this thought is counterproductive. Back links still do matter, however, rather than quantity, the quality of the links matter more. Links from websites that are related to yours (for example, an information website on forex trading linking out to a review site on forex robots) will always count, no matter what so-called SEO experts might say.

Another factor that Google is taking into consideration is your user experience. If your website visitors are staying on your website, doing things here and there, that will help in getting your websites ranked.

A profile on Google plus one will not hurt either. Simply create a Google Plus account and link it to it from your website. Make sure that you set the relationship of the link to “author”, because it will show to Google that you are a real person.

In all, SEO is something that you consider doing if you want to make Internet Marketing seriously. Website that are ranked are Google benefit from becoming a trusted website. Thus, when you get ranked on Google, it will be easier to recommend products to people.

Even with Google's Panda and Penguin updates some things have not changed and these basics will never change for as long as search engines remain search engines.

Why Internet Marketing Works

Not too long ago, the primary way that people were able to make money was through a regular job. They would travel to the job site, trade time for money, and come back home waiting to do it again. Once the Internet became something available for everyone, it began to change the landscape of how people were able to make money. Instead of having to travel to a certain destination in order to work, many people learned how to use the Internet in order to make a part-time or full-time income. Without having to travel anywhere, they were able to replace their regular income, or supplement it, by using the Internet. In this article, we will present several reasons why Internet marketing works and how you can tap into this very modern and unique way to earn a living on the web.

Internet Marketing has come a long way since its early beginnings. A lot of that has to do with trust. When people first started surfing the web and looking at websites, everything was very poorly done. Graphics looked terrible. People that created websites were very new at doing so, so everything was represented in a very basic way. Fortunately, modern advancements in Web design and graphics have allowed people to make a good living on the Internet because people are now used to surfing on the web and buying products on a regular basis. Therefore, in regard to marketing on the Internet, you can sell your own products and services, or become an affiliate for someone else's merchandise, and start earning a good living from the efforts that you make.

Earning a living online, however, requires you to have a basic knowledge of how Internet Marketing actually works. It's a lot like network marketing in that you need to be tapped into communities that can help you sell what you have to offer. Of course, you can be an affiliate for virtually any product available on the web and use the trust and networking that these larger companies have already established. But if you truly want to make money online, having your own product, and being able to market this to thousands of other people on a regular basis, is really the way to go when it comes to earning a full-time living or even more.

The first thing you need to do is create your own product. This could be a simple report, or you could actually have a physical product that you sell online. Once you have networked with people that are like-minded, selling similar products, that are not competitive, you have a higher probability of making sales on a regular basis because of this interconnectivity. Networking is so important in any area of endeavor, but when it comes to Internet marketing, it literally is the lifeblood of those that are trying to sell products and services and make money on the web.

Therefore, your goal, if Internet Marketing is what you really want to do, is to become an affiliate for products and services that are very popular, or create your own product or service that you can offer, and network with people online that can put you in touch with potential buyers on the web that will want what you have to offer. By setting things up in this manner, you are weighing the odds in your favor of making money on a regular basis online.

How Search Engine Optimization Has Become More Sophisticated

Internet marketers are very familiar with the need to use good search engine optimization in each individual post or article they write. Without good SEO, Google will not send the traffic they need to be successful.

TO KNOW THE ALGORITHM HISTORY CLICK HERE

Over the years search engine optimization has become more and more sophisticated. This has been necessary in order to keep up with the technological advancements of Google and other search engines.

Gone are the days when marketers could get by with using a targeted keyword phrase in the title of an article, and then loading the page with the same keyword phrase over and over again. Worse, these pages often contained no information at all; they were pages filled with nothing but links to affiliate sites.

Those marketers found that the search engines sent them so much traffic that they could still make a boat load of money from the 1% or 2% of the visitors who would click through on one of their many affiliate links and make a purchase.

It is easy to appreciate why Google needed to do a better job of understanding where they were sending traffic. Would you continue to use Google if every time you searched for something you were sent to a link farm? Do you like to be sent to a page that offers absolutely no information about the subject of your search? Of course not. No one does.

As technology improved, Google started learning how to separate sites that had informative content from those that were abusing the system. They started learning how to identify articles with original content. They started rewarding articles that included words and phrases that were related to the title of the post. They also stopped sending traffic to sites that repeated keyword phrases over and over and over.

As Google became even more advanced they started looking for and identifying excessive affiliate links. They also started noticing the number of ads that were placed inside an article --- and where in the article the ads were placed.

Today Internet marketers have learned that practicing good search engine optimization really means providing informative content that is relative to the keywords in the article title.  They have also learned that the article cannot be copied and that the article should be filled with words and phrases that are related to the subject.

Some feel that Google wants to get rid of Internet marketers. According to Google, however, all they want to do is to send the people using their service to websites that provide what they are looking for. After all, when you use Google, that's what you expect. Everyone wants to be sent to a website that that answers a specific question or solves a specific problem.

So when you are preparing articles or posts for your websites or blogs, just remember to think like Google thinks. Make sure that you provide relative and informative content. That is the first rule of good search engine optimization.

An Internet Marketing Success Story

Online success stories are often riddled with exaggerations, half-truths, or even lies. It's amazing the lengths people will go to in order to convince others that they are the real deal, a guru, the one to follow, so that they might part with some cash to buy their product.

Success stories like this annoy me, for they damped the real success stories, and make people jaded. There are plenty of real people earning real money online just through hard work, yet these scammers will have the whole Internet doubted before too long.

In order to show people otherwise, I've decided to include a little success story of my own. This is not something that will wow many people, as the money is not huge. However, it demonstrates that there is legitimacy online, and will give hope to some of those who have  online income aspirations  of their own.

I just got back from a short trip to Thailand. I live in Asia myself, so it was easy to make a quick hop. I stayed in Bangkok (5 nights) and Phuket (3 nights). More on this later.

I started building websites and trying to make money through internet marketing about December 2012, and slowly over the first half of 2013 i have seen a bit of success and incomes increasing. In May I earned over $1,200 USD, which I felt was an incredible amount. A large part of that money came from a one-off sale of one of my early websites though, so I knew it wouldn't necessarily always be that high.

One thing that has always attracted me to Internet Marketing was not these big, overnight income stories that are littered around, but more the ability to work from anywhere. I didn't exactly want to spend my whole time in Thailand writing and working away, but I did take my laptop with me and check some stats, make some updates, and keep in the loop with my websites.

I thought it was pretty cool that I could go out exploring in the afternoon, then come home and write an article or two in the evening before I went to bed.

I made sure not to overdo it though. i focused on my holiday first, and just did a little bit of writing to keep momentum and consistency of my sites up. I didn't spend a long time fretting about this or that, I just wrote a quick blog post for an hour or so and got on with my holiday.

Despite only writing one or two articles to each website once, or twice a week during my trip, I still managed to earn enough online to pay for my Phuket hotel (and a little left over).

I thought this was incredible, because it means that as I go forward with my online business, I will be able to increase this amount, hopefully to the point where I can work from anywhere, as long as I have a laptop and internet connection.

As you can see, this isn't a huge "wow he is so successful" story, but it is a "look at the small things you can achieve and work to make them larger" story.

Good luck with your own endeavors!
